Scholarships

Thank you for your interest. The deadline has passed and we are no longer accepting scholarship applications.

This year, we are able to offer a limited number of registration-fee scholarships for working domestic and international journalists. Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of financial need.



To qualify for a scholarship, an applicant must earn less than US $40,000 annually. Scholarships will be awarded in mid-February. (If you are not awarded a scholarship, you will be able to take advantage of the early-bird registration rate through February 28, 2009.)


If you wish to apply for a scholarship, please submit the following:

  • A brief letter explaining your reasons for attending the conference, how and where you will apply the knowledge gained from the conference, your experience with narrative journalism, and any special circumstances

  • Three work samples demonstrating your professional practice of journalism

  • Proof of income (W-2 in the U.S.; equivalent form from other countries)

Your scholarship application must be POSTMARKED by January 15, 2009.
