The Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard recognizes that a commitment to diversity is crucial to fulfilling journalism's mission to reflect, engage and inform all of society.

Global movement and interdependence creates increasingly diverse populations and requires wider understanding and coverage of diverse perspectives.

The Nieman Foundation therefore supports lifting the quality of journalism through greater diversity in news coverage and staffing and engaging the public at all levels. This includes developing diversity awareness among all journalists.
