Our Comments on a Notable Narrative
Medicine's Fatal Code of Silence
Author:
Barry Siegel

Format:
Serial

This piece investigates a boy's death during a routine surgery -- and exposes faults not just in the man prosecuted for the death, but in the culture he worked in.

As in all of Siegel's stories on this site, all of which cover in some sense an "endangered child," he portrays emotional content -- in this case a young boy's death, his parents' senseless loss -- while making a contribution to the way we think about our world -- in this case, medicine and the culture of the medical community.
