Chelsea J. Carter |
Chelsea J. Carter is a national writer for The Associated Press based in New York.
Carter joined the AP in 1996 in Charleston, W.Va., after working as a reporter for the Lodi News-Sentinel and The Sacramento Union in California. Later that year she transferred to Atlanta, where she was recognized by the Associated Press Managing Editors with the 1997 John L. Dougherty Award, given to AP reporters in the early stages of their careers. She transferred to the New York City bureau in 1998.
Carter was appointed Orange County, Calif., correspondent in 1999 and was named national writer in 2003.
Carter is a graduate of California State University at Sacramento.
