Tom Dunkel

Tom Dunkel joined The (Baltimore) Sun as a feature writer in 2003. Prior to that he was under contract at George magazine and a contributing editor at National Geographic Traveler. His freelance writing credits include Smithsonian, Sports Illustrated, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post's Style section and Sunday Magazine, The New York Times Sunday Magazine, Travel & Lesiure and Slate. In addition, he has done a handful of commentaries for NPR's Morning Edition.

Early in his career, Dunkel was a feature writer at Insight (a now-defunct Washington, D.C., newsweekly owned by The Washington Times) and New Jersey Monthly. He's a graduate of Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Penn., and earned a master's degree in journalism from New York University.
