Kate Gurnett studied at the Sorbonne. She wrote murder stories, then features and profiles, most recently for the Times Union, a Hearst paper in Albany, N.Y. She has been honored by the American Association of Sunday and Feature Editors, the National Society of Newspaper Columnists and The Associated Press. Gurnett lives in Albany with her husband, Yancey Roy, a political reporter for Gannett News Service.
