Many excellent colleges and universities around the United States hold nonfiction writing courses via extension or adult education programs. Below are some courses or conferences devoted to nonfiction writing.

Poynter Institute Training in St. Petersburg (individual coaching and in-person seminars, as well as online courses, Webinars and publications, generally conducted by very accomplished journalists)
Massachusetts
The Nieman Foundation’s National Conference on Narrative Journalism in Boston (all narratives in all media)
Provincetown Summer Workshops (vary year to year, but sometimes include nonfiction sessions)
Oregon
Tin House Summer Writers’ Workshop at Reed College in Portland (vary year to year but often include nonfiction sessions)

The Creative Nonfiction Writers' Conference in Pittsburgh
Vermont
Breadloaf Writers Conference at Middlebury College (writing workshops focused on nonfiction, fiction and poetry; however, manuscripts of newspaper journalism will not be considered for admission)
