WHO: Nieman Reports, a quarterly magazine about journalism, is published by the Nieman Foundation at Harvard University. Its six-decade long mission: “to elevate the standards of journalism.”
WHAT: Nieman Reports is an invaluable resource for j-school classrooms and students. In first-person accounts, journalists provide up-to-date, on-the-ground and on-the-Web experiences in gathering, producing and distributing news and information.
WHERE: In
Teaching Tools Nieman Reports stories are sorted by topic and selected with relevancy to contemporary journalism issues – with classroom use in mind. And each issue of Nieman Reports is searchable by
key words. Want to locate articles about a particular topic or by a specific writer? Try searching the Nieman Reports’ Web site. In
Teaching Glimpses professors, in essays written exclusively for Professor's Corner, share ideas about how they have engaged and motivated their students in the classroom.
WHEN: Perioidcally, new content is added and stories from recent issues of Nieman Reports are highlighted. We occasionally send out e-mails to notify professors of new resources. If you would like to receive such e-mails, please let us know at

WHY: Professor’s Corner is a one-stop shopping experience created to respond to a pressing need in j-school classrooms. Our magazine’s real-time, first-hand accounts of what it’s like to work as a journalist today speak directly to the enormous challenges and opportunities in our ever-changing digital media environment. Personally told stories by these journalists provide insights that will provoke and stimulate classroom discussion and buttress teaching and learning.
